The last Cyberman: Viva Chronicles

Self-published zine with screen-printed front cover. Hand printed in an edition of 100 to accompany the World of the last Cyberman exhibition in June 2022.

A collection of personal responses to events and adventures leading up to my final doctorate exhibition and viva. Words and analogue photographs document the absurd expeditions to forage discarded road signs and computer towers while a revealing narrative evokes the mental and physical struggles as the culmination of 7 years of academic study looms steadily closer. It communicates the alienation and anxiety of an art student who has never fit in and never will, alongside his frustration at a corrupt and ineffective capitalist society which continually strives to marginalise creative arts education.

Syphoning the scathing critique of Iain Sinclair, the unstable anarchy of Laura Oldfield Ford and the suburban-miraculous narratives of J.G. Ballard, the Viva Chronicles is a highly unique compilation of self-reflective, creative writing.
